About Sean

Sean H. Sanchez grew up and studied in Manila, Philippines. He took up college at University of East (nothing special, but surrounded by lots of bars), where he earned a degree in Political Science (and sort-a mastery in drinking) in 1989. Immediately after graduating, he straightened up (a little) and started as a Management Trainee for KFC, and surprisingly, was immediately promoted to Restaurant Manager. Quickly made a name for himself, known as one of the best managers. His abilities and work ethic prompted him to become one of the best candidates for Area Managers for KFC Philippines, who knew?

Despite being one of the best in his field, for reasons unknown to him at that time, in 1992, mindlessly, he shifted work. He started working as a Management Trainee again, this time in Marketing, for meager pay in an unknown small company: ACA Video (a Blockbuster Video wannabe). Again, he promptly proved his worth and became the company's Vice-President for Marketing, along with it, elevating the business’ popularity as the premier brand in Video Rental Shop in the Philippines.

He found his niche, he thought. The creative process in Marketing Campaigns exhilarates him. He loves developing Advertising & Promotion strategies, and equally loves the intricacies of Marketing Communications & Relations. From then on, he moved from company to company to provide his expertise. His constant moves fed his hunger for solving companies’ dilemmas in Marketing. One such company was a chain of hotels: Hotel Sogo. It was relatively successful with seven branches before he joined them, but had a problem with brand popularity. It was relatively unknown in 2002. Sean quickly established and pioneered the company’s Corporate Marketing Department; recommended and changed the company’s logo, with a logo he conceptualized himself. With this, and with his ingenious Marketing Team’s campaigns, in a short period of two years in 2004 Hotel Sogo quickly became a household name, number one. It is the most popular brand in Hotel Chains in the Philippines, its icon (logo) becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of any businesses. And now, it also boasts having the most number of branches all over the archipelago.

He moved again another company to company, until he realized it was repetitive and tedious. He stopped working altogether, and one day found himself writing songs. The reason; he can’t just stop his mind, thinking or creating. He’s obsessed with music. (He idolizes the Beatles, but loves all kinds of music. It includes classics from Beethoven, Mozart or Tchaikovsky; Led Zeppelin, Santana, and Queen. Equally like New Wave, Disco, music by Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor and a lot more.) In short, in three days he had written thirty song lyrics (some exceptionally good and some rubbish, admittedly), the problem was he didn’t know anyone from the music industry. While examining Angel’s Cry, one of his lyrics he’d written, he started writing a story about it, the first chapter of a novel, by the second chapter. He recognized what he was seeking; an ultimate challenge in creativity. He finished his first epic mystery novel: Melodies of a Tattered Shadow (176K word) in nine months. And incredibly, the feeling of winning a multi-million-dollar lottery (yes, it does feel that way every time you finish writing a novel). Sean admits that he is addicted to it. Addicted to creating stories. Not just stories, but stories that are intriguing— truly peculiar, and never run-of-the-mill.

He followed ‘Melodies of a Tattered Shadow’ with the first two books on the adventures of Astral Traveling (paranormal): The Dreamriders Chronicles Series— Possession Obsession (Book 1/68K words), and The Skymaster (Book 2/56K word).

He is presently working on multiple projects. He’s hoping if possible not to be distracted from the reality of life to earn a living. He is working on the following novels: (1) HEAVEN’S GATE-The Forgotten Library (2) Blood War Series: Farm Factory (Book 1 / paranormal/sci-fi/suspense); (3) Target Apocalypse (historical/mystery); (4) Dark Entity (The Dreamriders Chronicles-Book 3/paranormal); (5) The Thief of Innocence (mystery/suspense) (6) Suicide Watch (mystery/suspense), and many more. Nowadays, he is suffering withdrawal from his (writing) addiction; constantly having recurring nightmares. Not about monsters or demons, surely he’d know that it’s just a dream and eventually would chase the demons, himself. Instead, dreadful dreams of being murdered by bank robbers or throngs of teenage drug pushers; if for some reason he wasn’t able to write on a given day. It could be a mental ailment, or might be his nature. Not mental as his mind creates intriguing things…even in his sleep, or so he hopes. He simply comforts himself with repeatedly saying that, “writing novels is controlled schizophrenia”.
